We are looking for a Public Equity Analyst to join our team. The Analyst will apply our private market approach to public companies and focus on high conviction long/short investments in life sciences companies. Our disciplined process is keenly focused on deep scientific and fundamental diligence with a bias toward exciting secular trends, companies transitioning from private to public markets, and exited Catalio portfolio companies where we see an opportunity to compound returns over a multi-year holding period.


A part of Catalio’s multidisciplinary Research team, the Public Equities Analyst will work alongside investment professionals with financial, scientific and clinical expertise, focusing on fundamental and technical analysis of public biotechnology stocks.


Responsibilities

  • Closely track a subset of biotechnology stocks of particular interest to Catalio
  • Make recommendations to the fund’s risk committee of high-conviction names within key biotechnology subsectors
  • Prepare investment documentation, including clinical, scientific, commercial, and financial due diligence. Able to analyze, interpret and summarize preclinical and clinical data and scientific literature and able to build and maintain financial models Stay up to date with and maintain a view on the public biotechnology market, including staying on top of relevant news, company filings and clinical trial developments
  • Attend scientific and medical conferences (virtual or in person), interact with KOLs and equity research analysts and use information to guide recommendations for the portfolio
  • Collaborate as necessary on private equity and private credit deals
  • Execute orders for the firm, create and maintain company data, establish relationships with key vendors and participate in the fund’s operations


Qualifications

  • More than 3 years of investment experience in life sciences; experience working within small and mid-cap public equity markets is preferred
  • Ability to evaluate the scientific, clinical, and financial aspects of companies developing drugs, devices, diagnostics and data platforms
  • Relevant degree from a top-tier institution; graduate degree, such as a PhD in biological sciences or an MD, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


This position is full-time, in-person. Catalio has offices in the NoMad district in New York City, Baltimore, and London.
