Flourish is developing Cortex AI, a system informed by connectomics — the mapping of real neurons and their connections, carried out in the company's Neolab — to uncover the computational principles of biological intelligence, with the aim of running advanced AI on 20–50 watts rather than the megawatts consumed by today's large models. The company was co-founded by Thomas Reardon (creator of Internet Explorer and founder of CTRL-labs, acquired by Meta), former Amazon executive Robert Williams, and Catalio Venture Partner Joshua Vogelstein, and has assembled a team of leading AI researchers and neuroscientists. Proceeds from the financing will fund Flourish's connectomics research and the build-out of Cortex AI toward a first working system.
